  1. Itinerary Day tour from Cluj-Napoca

Your day trip from Cluj-Napoca starts in the morning when you will meet up with your travel guide and head to Alba Iulia to discover the city that was the largest Roman castrum, and its star-shaped fortification, Alba Carolina. Situated in the heart of Transylvania, over the time, this settlement was transformed by the German and Hungarian populations which enriched its cultural diversity. Because of the influences imprinted over centuries, you will be able to observe that the buildings and churches have different architectural styles: Baroque, Romanesque and even Babylonian.

The Alba Carolina Fortress is surrounded by 12 km of walls in order to protect the center of the city won’t cease to amaze you. At its beginnings, the fortification was a Roman Fort, afterward a fortress during the Middle Ages and later a Vauban type Citadel provided with 7 bastions. Regardless of which entrance we’ll use you will be pleasantly surprised by all the Baroque decorative elements considered unique in European military architecture. The sensation of the past centuries will be sustained by the Austrian guards in their vintage clothes who protect the citadel even nowadays.

Your day tour continues on a small road that takes us to Rimetea, a small village filled with white houses with their lovely green windows, loved by time and cherished by its inhabitants. We will have lunch in this beautiful place and you will remain with an image to treasure all your life.

Our day trip from Cluj continues with a descent into the world’s largest salt mining history museum situated in Turda, the Turda Salt Mine. The exploitation of the rich deposit was started by the Romans 2000 years ago during their occupation in Dacia. The museum includes three mines: Terezia, which reaches a depth of 90 meters, followed by Anton and Rudolf, both of them offering spectacular views. After admiring the huge room carved in salt we will go down to the bottom of the mine and reach the salty lake where you can enjoy a boat ride at the lowest point of the museum. A one of a kind overview of the mine can be savored while ascending or descending with the glass elevator. A constant temperature between 10 and 12 degrees is maintained naturally all year round with a humidity of around 80%.

Besides being a museum, the Turda Salt Mine is also an amusement park where you can play tennis, mini-golf, ride a Ferris wheel, or even take a boat ride on the underwater salt lake.

After our tour in the salt mine, your day tour will come to an end, and you will be transferred back to Cluj-Napoca.

One of the best day trips I've ever been on! I have not been able to stop talking about it since my return home. My guide Ilona was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about the sites we visited and the history of Transylvania. Ilona picked me up on time at the hotel and the trip lasted roughly 9.5 hours. It had been 14 years since I visited the Turda salt mine and I was impressed with the renovations and addition of the amusement park. Alba Iulia was by far my favorite place: the history of the location and beautifully-restored buildings and fortress were a real treat! A shame it was Monday and a few museums on the site were closed. The village of Rimitea was very quiet due to it being a Monday? We weren't sure but the architecture of the place was certainly interesting. Besides taking me to one of her favorite Hungarian restaurants, Ilona also gave me great pointers for places to eat and buy souvenirs during my stay in Romania. I would certainly book another tour through Rolandia during my next stay in Romania!

I was in Cluj for a day and I didn't expect to see so many things in just a day. In the morning the guide came at the hotel and we went to Turda salt mine where there are some spectacular sights. the guide provided interesting information about the things we saw. From there we went to Rimetea village where we had a delicious lunch with specifical natural products and goodies. In the afternoon we went to Alba Iulia city where we visited the old fortress and in the evening we came back to Cluj Napoca. I was both fun and interesting, due to Rolandia that provided us with the best services.

My first time in Transylvania. It was a beautiful trip. Our guide, Florin was a very safe driver, punctual and his knowledge of the places visited was stunning. It is of great value for Rolandia. The tour was tailored to our desires, it more than met our expectations and it was well organized and structured. Generated from TourRadar

We booked this trip to Cluj because we wanted to make my mother a birthday surprise for her 70s because she was born in this place. I took the whole family (my mother and father, one husband, 3 kids, my sister and her husband with their 5-year son) and we had a lovely day visiting her birthplace, the Salina Turda, Alba Carolina. It made her so happy. Thank you for this great day! Generated from TourRadar

We recently booked a day trip with Rolandia from Cluj visiting the salt mines at Turda and various other sites, the whole day was fantastic we must have had the best guide ever in Ilona, the young lady took us into Transylvania showing us places of interest and answering every question, Ilona has a real passion for her job and for Transylvania , we were a party of 3 and were transported by car, you need to be aware, wear good walking shoes, if you book through Rolandia you will not be disappointed and if you are lucky enough to get Ilona as your guide you will certainly have day to remember and a much better knowledge of Transylvania and Romanian people.
