Bucharest – Iasi - Gura Humorului - Humor - Voronet - Gura Humorului

You will take a morning flight from Bucharest to Iasi and there, in the airport, you will be met by your travel guide and you will be transferred to Gura Humorului, in the heart of Bukovina. This region is one of the most beautiful, authentic and unspoiled rural areas in Europe, home to the famous painted monasteries, many are a part of the UNESCO patrimony.
After a few hours of rest, we will start our visits with a small, cross-shaped church, built in Gura Humorului in 1530. We will continue with the jewel of the Moldavian monasteries, Voronet. It’s Romania’s most renowned monastery due to its frescoes which have become famous throughout the world.
Overnight in Gura Humorului.
Gura Humorului – Vama – Sucevita – Marginea – Gura Humorului
In the morning we will proceed to Vama, where you will be witness to the art of dyeing Easter eggs, the local craft of dyeing and decorating eggs with colorful, intricate patterns.
You will explore a traditional village located in Bukovina and it will feel like a trip back in time. The inhabitants are the Hutuls, an ancient mountain tribe, scattered along the Carpathians, from Poland to Maramures and Bucovina. You will discover their traditions and customs, which are based on family and the forest.
Next, we will pass through amazing sceneries and reach Sucevita Monastery, surrounded by fortified walls. The church is built in Moldavian style, with Gothic and Byzantine influences. Its murals are dominated by the color green, obtained through an ancient technique from natural pigments.
At Marginea you will have the opportunity to observe the famous black pottery, shaped by hand by the local craftsmen, fired and then polished, also by hand.
Overnight in Gura Humorului.
Gura Humorului – Neamt Fortress - Agapia – Nicolae Popa – Iasi
In the morning we will visit Neamţ Fortress – an important military and historical objective that survived the siege of Sultan Mehmed II, the conqueror of Constantinople.
On our way to Iasi, we will visit Agapia, a beautiful church and also an important center of promoting the traditional crafts. You will be seized by the church’s charm and the serenity that surrounds it. The monastery is famous for making diverse flavors of jam. You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to try the delicious homemade products!
Next, we will step inside a private peasant museum. The museum has the name of Nicolae Popa, a local sculptor and a true creator of folklore. Here you can be witness to his creation and try on the ritual masks and traditional costumes.
In the evening we will reach the romantic city of Iasi. The nowadays town is the result of hundreds of years of history, culture and religious life which blends in perfectly with the occidental part of the city.

Iasi – Bucharest
You will take a stroll on Stefan cel Mare Street and delve into the bohemian atmosphere. On our walking tour, you will have the chance to admire the Roznovanu Palace, built in the 18th century, which in our days hosts the city hall. Three Hierarchs Church and the Metropolitan Cathedral are part of the itinerary and they will amaze you with their beauty. We will visit the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre, the oldest in Romania. Our itinerary includes the Palace of Culture, the main attraction of the Moldavian capital. The edifice has 365 elegantly decorated rooms as many as days within a year. You will see its beautiful chambers and learn about its history. You will also reach the Clock Tower where you will be witness to the special process that produces the national tunes which mark the hours.
We will visit Golia Monastery, a place which induces peace and serenity and it also offers an impressive view over the city from its tower.
Our last stop will be at the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University Library, one of the most majestic libraries in the world, according to Bored Panda. The library is permanently open and it owns one million volumes.
After you day of discovering the beauties of the Moldavian region’s capital, you will be transferred to the airport and depart to Bucharest.

By default, the tour is organized in English, but it can be organized in French and German upon request.
