Chișinău, also known as Kishinev, is the capital city of the Republic of Moldova. It was founded in 1436 as a monastery village, but throughout the years, it slowly grew in population and size.

In Chișinău, you can observe the strong influences of the communist period, especially in the architecture of the buildings. The city is also filled with various parks, such as Stephen the Great Central Park or Valea Morilor Park.

The city is home to many events and festivals. The Moldova National Wine Day and the Wine Festival take place early in the first weekend of October, and they celebrate the autumn harvest and the country’s history of winemaking.

Other stunning landmarks worth visiting are the National Museum of History of Moldova, the Nativity Cathedral, and the Botanical Garden. The city of Chișinău also has its own Triumphal Arch.
