Frequently Asked Questions
How many days do you need to see Romania?
Five to seven days covers the classic Transylvania highlights — Brașov, Bran and Peleș castles, Sighișoara and a day trip or two. Ten days lets you add Maramureș and the painted monasteries of Bucovina, which is why our Best of Romania in 10 Days is the most complete option. If you only have a long weekend, a 3–4 day tour from Bucharest still delivers the castles.
When is the best time to visit Romania?
May–June and September–October are ideal: warm, green and far quieter than midsummer. July and August are great for the mountains and the Black Sea but busier at the castles. October brings autumn colours and the Halloween season in Transylvania. Winter (December–February) is for Christmas markets and snowy Carpathian scenery.
How much does a Romania tour cost?
Rolandia day trips start at €82 per person. Multi-day small-group tours run from €793 (4-day Transylvania Castles) to €1,997 (10-day Best of Romania). Private and custom tours are priced on request and start from €299. Booking direct with us is typically 10–15% cheaper than the same tour on an OTA.
Where do Rolandia tours start?
Most tours depart from Bucharest, but we also run trips from Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Brașov. Tell us where you’re landing and we’ll plan around it — several itineraries can be reversed or restructured to match your arrival airport.
Are your tours private or small-group?
Both. Small-group tours have a maximum of 10 travellers, so they stay personal and good value. Private tours of Romania give you your own guide, vehicle and a fully flexible schedule. Day trips and city tours come in both formats.
Is Romania safe for tourists?
Yes. Romania is one of the safer countries in the European Union, with low violent-crime rates and a welcoming attitude to visitors. Normal city precautions apply in Bucharest. Travelling with a local operator like Rolandia removes the usual friction — transport, accommodation and a guide who speaks your language are all arranged.
What’s included in the tour price?
Multi-day tours include accommodation, private or group transport and an English-speaking guide; most meals, entrance fees and optional activities vary by itinerary and are listed on each tour page. Day trips include transport and guiding. Flights to Romania are not included.
Why book direct instead of through an OTA?
When you book on Viator, GetYourGuide or TourRadar, 15–25% of what you pay leaves Romania as platform commission. Booking direct with Rolandia means a lower price for you, your money going to the local guides who run the trip, a real person to talk to, and a flexible itinerary you can adjust before and during the tour.
