Itinerary

The meeting with your guide for the Cluj city tour is in Union Square, in front of the statue of Matei Corvin. Known as the city of arts, reminiscent of the Roman colony that settled in the second century A.D. Most of the attraction is clustered around Union Square, displaying a Baroque style architecture. Our first visit will be at the Cathedral of St. Michael, with its fantastic spire towering 262 feet high and dominating the whole market.

Next, we will visit the Banffy Palace, home to the National Art Museum, and walk on the one of a kind Mirror Street where the buildings situated on the right are the reflection of the ones on the left side. We will reach the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral placed in the middle of the square where is the statue of Avram Iancu, the leader of the Romanian revolution in 1848. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to observe the beautiful elements that characterize the National Theatre.

From our tour guide, you will find many insights about the local life, like the best places to eat, where you can drink a local beer, or if you want to impress your wife with a romantic dinner.

Tour highlights

Gothic Cathedral of St. Michael - This Catholic cathedral is the second largest in Transylvania. It’s the most representative landmark of the city, and it’s situated in the old town in the center of Cluj. The inside of the church is also designed in a Gothic style bringing you back to the 14th century. You can also admire beautiful medieval frescoes inside the cathedral.

Banffy PalaceNational Art Museum – A Gothic-style building, the palace belonged to the noble Banffy family, and nowadays, it hosts an art gallery inside the edifice’s walls. In time, the building had many functions: from a protocol residence, a nationally-known casino, an apartment building, establishment for industrial companies to a cinema.

Mirror Street – As its name says, this street is identical on both sides: you can see that the buildings from the left are the same as the buildings on the right. This place is unique in Europe, and it is situated right in the city center. It is an enjoyable place to take pictures!
