Itinerary

Our Cluj tour commences in the bustling Union Square, right in front of the statue of Matei Corvin. Cluj is known as the "city of arts," and its rich past mirrors its Roman roots, which date back to the second century A.D. The majority of the intriguing sights are concentrated around Union Square, which features a compelling Baroque architectural style.

Our first stop is the breathtaking Cathedral of St. Michael, a towering Gothic masterpiece. Its beautiful spire rises to an astonishing 262 feet, commanding the entire market square. Step inside and be transported back to the 14th century by admiring the wonderful Gothic architecture and stunning mediaeval murals.

The next stop on our Cluj city tour is the majestic Banffy Palace, a stunning Gothic-style edifice. This historic monument was previously home to the noble Banffy family and today houses the prestigious National Art Museum within its walls. Throughout history, the palace has served a variety of functions, ranging from a protocol residence, or even a cinema.

Mirror Street is a lovely road where buildings on opposite sides precisely mirror one other, making it a one-of-a-kind highlight of your Cluj tour. This architectural marvel, one of a kind in Europe, is located in the centre of the city and provides an idyllic setting for creating amazing photographs.

Next, we will arrive at the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral, which is located in the centre of the plaza and features a statue of Avram Iancu, the leader of the Romanian Revolution in 1848.

Following that, you will get the opportunity to see the stunning components that define the National Theatre. This cultural gem, housed within a Neo-baroque masterpiece designed by Austrian architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, has enthralled visitors since its grand opening in 1906. As you walk through its hallowed halls, you'll see the growth of Romanian drama, from its beginnings with Zaharia Bârsan's pioneering works to the modern masterpieces of today's innovative directors.

P.S. This Cluj tour extends beyond the historical sites. Our skilled guide will turn you into a local insider, sharing secret spots and personal favourites. Discover the best venues to enjoy Cluj's delectable cuisine, ranging from traditional Transylvanian meals to modern cafes. Try a locally brewed beer in a historic pub, or seek ideas for the ideal romantic dinner venue to impress your significant other.
